Across the strait, towards Bal'harm

Abstract

Photo-essay exploring transformation, ways of being/seeing, and philosophies of travelling. Responding to Rohan Sikri's Photo-essay, I translate and transform philosophical concerns as they travel with me to Sicily. This work attends to the neo-colonial extraction experienced by Sicily in relation to the Italian state and the EU, the tranformative violence of gentrification and tourism, and its impact on the island and the people this island holds space for.
