KALI JOMPO JEMBER: JEJAK HISTORIS DALAM PERKEBUNAN KOPI DAN KARET SERTA TRASFORMASI FUNGSIONAL
Abstract
Rivers have played a central role in shaping human civilization throughout history. Kali Jompo in Jember Regency, East Java, exemplifies the vital role of rivers in the development of coffee and rubber plantations during the Dutch East Indies era. This river served not only as an irrigation water source but also as a support for a productive agribusiness ecosystem. This research uses historical methods through stages of heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The findings show that Kali Jompo has undergone a functional transformation from a colonial agribusiness center to a nature tourism area managed by the local community. This transformation reflects the community's adaptation to socioeconomic changes and environmental conservation efforts.
