The Paradoxical Point of Coherence: Competing Narratives and Contemporary Zeitgeist Formation
Abstract
This study proposes a radical reinterpretation of coherence within contemporary zeitgeist formation, arguing that diverse geopolitical, social, economic, and religious narratives serve the interests of a coherence nucleus. Rather than representing a rigid harmony formula, coherence emerges as the capacity to make sense of disorder through the dialectical interaction of competing narratives. Through theoretical analysis and contemporary case studies, this research demonstrates that the contemporary zeitgeist constitutes a paradoxical synthesis of forces that, while concurrent, provide meaning and form to our epoch. The study introduces a conceptual equation where zeitgeist equals the sum of competing narrative vectors, with coherence representing the comprehension of this equation itself.
