Kuwaiti public opinion trends regarding Kuwaiti newspapers' coverage of political issues during the period (2022-2023): A field study

Abstract

This study aims to explore the Kuwaiti public's perception of Kuwaiti newspapers' coverage of international political issues. A descriptiveanalytical methodology was used, with a questionnaire distributed to a sample of 420 respondents representing various age and professional groups. The study examines the extent of the public's exposure to Kuwaiti newspaper content, their assessment of the quality of journalistic coverage of international issues, and the impact of this on their attitudes and views. The results showed that Al-Rai newspaper was the most widely read newspaper among participants, with 76.19% of respondents stating that they read it regularly. It also revealed that "news articles" were the most widely used form of coverage, reflecting the public's interest in receiving information quickly and effectively. Furthermore, the study demonstrated that the public prefers newspaper articles as a tool for analyzing international issues. This study contributes to understanding the relationship between the media and the public and highlights the importance of journalism in shaping political awareness. It also recommends enhancing the quality of journalistic coverage and providing reliable and objective content that meets the public's needs. These findings are an important reference for media researchers and policymakers, helping to develop effective strategies to improve the performance of Kuwaiti journalism in addressing international issues.
