Moon Exploration Missions
Abstract
The Moon provides a strategic platform for scientific discovery and a gateway for deep-space exploration. This paper reviews recent advancements in understanding the lunar environment and the potential for in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) to enable sustainable, long-term human presence. Key areas include the identification and extraction of water ice and other resources, construction of habitats using local materials, renewable energy solutions, and closed-loop life support systems. The paper also discusses challenges such as low gravity, radiation exposure, and logistical constraints, alongside technological and mission strategies designed to overcome them. By synthesizing current research and technological innovations, this study highlights the Moon’s role as a testbed for future human missions, infrastructure development, and preparations for Mars exploration.
