When I first began my journey in education, I was like many others-trying to fit into a system that didn't always reflect my reality. The education system I grew up with was built on the ideals of colonization, teaching me to value knowledge that didn't always connect with my roots. It taught me to look outward, but not inward, and to admire cultures that were different from my own, but not to celebrate my own culture with the same pride. However, over the years, I began to realize that education is not just about passing exams or acquiring knowledge-it is about understanding who we are, where we come from, and where we can go. It is about recognizing the power of our histories, cultures, and identities, and using those strengths to navigate the modern world. Through my personal experiences and my work as an educator, I have come to understand that true education empowers us to shape our futures, while also honoring the wisdom of our past.
